From Our Founder

My name is Brittany and I am a 4th grade teacher at one of the highest rated schools in Loudoun County where we use project based learning to implement authentic and rigorous learning experiences for our students to accelerate their growth. After 8+ years of elementary education ranging from 2nd grade to 5th grade, I started UpSessions to meet the demand of busy families who want to enable their K-5th grade students to meet, or better achieve, the Virginia Standards and improve performance in the classroom. We use methods and learning processes to create fun study sessions that align with and solidify areas of improvement for your student. I hold a Master's in Elementary Education from Liberty University as well as a current Virginia state teacher's license for PreK-6th grade. Additionally, I have experience with working with students with disabilities, students who have been identified as gifted learners, and English language learners. This is my passion, and I cannot wait to meet your student or answer any questions that you might have about UpSessions.

Onboarding

We kick off all of our study sessions to discuss your student's learning goals and to answer any questions you might have.

Pre-Assessment

After discussing your student's goals we will develop a custom assessment to identify areas of strength and improvement.

Results

Results, recommendations, and plans are shared with parents on a continually basis via Google folder. Additionally, calls may be scheduled monthly with your educator.

Customized Learning

Custom lesson plans created to drive progress in learning and mastering the Virginia Standards.

Single Study Sessions

Single sessions that are focused on one subject at a time. An intake and assessment for each subject is offered to help your educator properly plan lessons for your student's study sessions.

Multi-Session Study

Most of the features of a single study session, with a ton of additional benefits. Multi-Session Study is a flexible 90 minute session that breaks each session down into two segments. The first segment is used for academic instruction. The second session can be used for academic instruction, homework, projects, or enjoy extra time reading along with everything our beautiful public libraries have to offer.

How do I get started?

After booking a call with one of our educators we will provide a link to schedule your first session. During your student's first session, we will administer an assessment that aligns with your student's needs and goals so we can prepare custom curriculum for the next session.

Can I switch my student's study session focus?

For single session study, only one subject is studied week over week. You may switch your student's academic area of study, but a single session will be required for an assessment so your assigned educator can understand the strengths and opportunities for your student. If you want to ongoing sessions to focus on two subject areas, you must either book two separate Single Study Session or book a Multi-Session Study.

How do I setup group sessions?

Group Sessions are the perfect way to further collaborative learning for your student and their friends. Group Sessions are available in single and multisession formats and require that you "bring a friend"; in fact, you can bring up to 2 additional friends (or siblings). When booking your session, there is an option to invite "guests" so you can include your friend's parents to pay and add the session to their calendar.

How frequently can I book sessions?

You may book as many sessions as frequently or infrequently as you'd like. For maximum impact, we do recommend booking at least 1 study session per week so your educator can keep up with your student's current abilities. For discounted bundled sessions where you've prepaid and committed to 10 study sessions, we do require that all 10 sessions be used within 120 days.
